The Westminster Difference

Difference #1

The Westminster Squad

Even though the plastics industry is age-old, we’re proud of our young team where the average age on the Westminster team is 33! This younger pedigree is nurtured by a culture of curiosity which keeps us aligned to customer expectations, understanding root causes to challenges and overcoming obstacles through a customized solutions approach.

Difference #2

Westminster Academy – Comparable to an apprenticeship approach, our academy is fostered by a key core value – the ability to be dynamic and accept change when needed.  Dedicated to this internal training program, our team grows together with effective cross training to not only understand but properly execute customer expectations.

Internal Personal Development Training – At Westminster, we know that a happy teammate translates to a happy customer. That’s why we’re committed to the investment of several internal training programs to enhance technical skills and emotional intelligence. By embracing unique learning styles, we realize to communicate more effectively with the tools like DISC and neuro-linguistic programming.

External Training Options – Similarly to valuing our teammates, we value our outside partners that help grow our business to optimize our true potential. External experts have afforded Westminster recognition and certificates from companies such as: QVCC Advanced Manufacturing Certificate Program, RJG Master Molder Program, DME University, and our local academia.

Continuous Improvement Meetings – Who wouldn’t find value in a morning huddle? Our functional teams gather every morning for a 30 minute discussion to collaboratively share and use the time to troubleshoot any new challenges. This synchronized meeting creates stronger teams who communicate effectively and implement improvements to the manufacturing process including preventive action measures.

Continuous Improvement Matrix – At Westminster, we believe everyone’s idea can contribute to a conversation that will ultimately result in a continuous improvement implementation.  Every teammate has the ability to add value and that’s why we encourage everyone to identify three challenges each week that can be improved or discussed during our morning huddles.

Metrics – Most successful businesses emphasize the importance of key performance indicators, but we drive more victories because we do as we say:  On Time, First Time, On Budget and Satisfied Customer Service. We measure success when these attributes are witnessed by our customers.

According to Google, Emotional Intelligence is the ability to maintain composure by embracing curiosity. It’s an expectation of the Westminster team to migrate away from judgment in order to seek understanding. This is instrumental in the success of the Westminster House. Without curiosity, one cannot improve, learn or be held accountable. We equip our employees with skills to always be hungry for curiosity and train Emotional Intelligence learning styles. As a team, we hold each other to a high standard of working judgement-free. At times it’s not only easy, but this is the core to the Westminster differentiator.
