It’s our favorite time of year where the Westminster Tool team celebrates the season of giving, looking for opportunities to support organizations we’re passionate about. These are organizations that support our community, help the less fortunate, or are making a difference nationwide.
This year we’re sharing a charity roundup of all the amazing organizations we’ve decided to support this holiday season and sharing stories from the incredible work that they do. Discover some of the stories of our charities of choice and learn more about how donations can help support future efforts.
1. Canterbury VFW and American Legion
Westminster Tool originated in the town of Canterbury, CT on Westminster Hill, and since that beginning, the employees of Westminster Tool have always supported local veterans and supporting our military. That’s why the Canterbury VFW and American Legion Troop 91 are special groups to the WT family. These local groups host incredible fundraising and community outreach events for our veterans.

American Legion is a historic national organization dedicated as a patriotic veterans foundation helping American veterans. The American Legion Department of Connecticut Post 91 is another great example of a local effort to support programs ranging from youth sports to veteran services.

2. Canterbury Lions Club
The Canterbury Lions club is another local organization that helps to address critical needs in the community and support its residents. Programs include supporting those with disabilities, providing educational scholarships, and hosting fundraisers for other community efforts.

3. NAMI Southeastern CT
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness is America’s largest non-profit organization aimed at improving the quality of life for people living with mental health challenges. Serving Southeastern CT an London County, the organization focuses on providing localized support to those in our community. So many of our team and the people around us have been impacted by the struggles of mental illness, whether personally or someone close to us. This organization is committed to providing educational, medical support as well as advocating for more awareness on mental health issues.
4. Why Me Foundation
Why Me is a New England non-profit organization created to support families coping with childhood cancer. For over 30 years, the group has raised funds to help the entire family through pediatric cancer diagnosis through services such as family events, outings, and financial support.
5. Southeastern CT Robotics
SECTR, Southeastern CT Robotics, is an organization providing hands-on STEM learning and project development skills to children ages 9-14 in our community. In addition to manufacturing and engineering competitions, the group highlights career opportunities to inspire the next generation of innovators.

6. Plainfield Police Department
Westminster Tool is incredibly proud to be based in Plainfield, Connecticut. Our community is one based on families, neighbors, innovative businesses, and incredible local partnerships, none of which would be successful or safe without the support of the Plainfield Police Department. In addition to keeping our communities safe, our local police department is responsible for supporting hundreds of vital community events such as food and toy drives, group fundraisers and more.
7. Operation Secret Santa
One of our favorite Christmas traditions is participating in local family services Operation Secret Santa programs where we get to sponsor local children in need and help shop to make their Christmas spectacular. Employees collect toys, clothes and gifts to donate to the children in our community.
