On Sunday morning, July 21st, 194 runners and walkers from all over gathered during one of the summer’s hottest heatwaves. They were all there to show their support for the town of Plainfield by participating in Westminster Tool’s fifth annual 5k Fun Run/Walk. Westminster Tool had set a goal of getting 150 people signed up for the race, and with all of the efforts the race organizers put in, we were able to far surpass that goal and reach record numbers of registered runners and walkers.
Westminster Tool also reached out to local businesses to create teams. Some key teams in this year’s race were the Plainfield Fire Department, the Plainfield Police Department, the Plainfield Business Association, Moose on the Loose (Moosup Elementary), Wepco Plastics, Roma IV Salon, Drafty Pines Farm, Eastern CT Savings Bank, Cumberland Farms, and Run 169.
All of this year’s race proceeds benefit educational outreach programs for the town of Plainfield. We were able to raise $10,000. This number could not have been reached without the support of our sponsors:

One of the biggest improvements in this year’s race was utilizing the timing company Timetotri, which improved the overall process tremendously. The overall success of this event could not have been accomplished without the help of all our volunteers, sponsors, teams, and everyone who registered. We would like to thank everyone who came together to support the Plainfield community and helped create one of the best races we have ever had.
