PLAINFIELD, CT – August 10, 2009, Westminster Tool, Inc., opened its new technology center to support its mold and manufacturing cell qualification services. “The need to bridge the gap between manufacturing and production is obvious based on today’s demands for speed to market. The way to accomplish this is to provide qualification services for turn-key manufacturing solutions.” said Mark Ypsilantis, Vice President of Westminster Tool, Inc.
In early 2009, Westminster Tool and Maruka/Toyo formulated a strategic partnership. The center opened with three new 2010 Toyo Si-IV injection molding machines ranging from 110 tons to 250 tons. All machines are outfitted with the interface to accept data from cavity pressure and temperature sensors. In-house staff, have been certified through RJG’s Master MolderSM Certification Program – Module I and are qualified to develop a Decoupled II Molding Process.
In addition to the injection molding capacity, work cell integration for resin transfer molding (RTM) exists as well. Westminster has developed and integrated an innovative thermal management system for RTM to support manufacturing of the fast growing high performance composite part market. As part of this innovation effort, Westminster is in the final stages of securing a representative agreement with a leading European equipment provider for thermal management systems.
